The Angkor National Museum, unlike the Cambodia National Museum, was
full of useful information and laid out in a way that provide context
around what you were seeing. We could have spent a day there
instead of a couple of hours. Things were broken up into specifc halls. The first one we visited was "the room of a 1000 Buddhas" ... which was pretty accurate. |

The rest covered different aspects of the Khmer empire, from it's origin, the great Khmer kings, a hall dedicated to the religious beliefs during the five centuries of Khmer rule, and then some specifics around Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and other topics. There are a lot of pictures describing things, but not trying to turn this into a history lesson, so here are a variety of photos of the exhibits. |
